The Uawa Community Health Centre is open 8.30am-4.30pm every day. Appointments with Dr Rob Wilks are available Monday and Tuesdays. Appointments with Dr Sally Murdoch are available Thursday and Friday’s. Anyone needing to see a doctor on a Wednesday will be referred to Te Puia Hospital, Puhi Kaiti, or Gisborne Hospital.
Sometimes a GP Registrar is also available to see patients.
GP registrars are fully qualified and registered doctors doing specialist training to become a general practitioner (GP).
There is a nurse-led clinic one day a week. The Uawa rural health nurse is Hinemoa McLelland who can help patients with:
Patients visiting our practice can also see Kaiawhina Kuini Tuapawa. Like all kaiawhina, Kuini can help with a range of parenting and or family health issues by offering practical support and education. Kaiawhina Maori health workers regularly work in their own communities and have strong links with local iwi (tribal group).
Receptionist Catherine O’Sullivan will take care of your appointment and help you with paperwork.
